All cash funds received during 2023 for the Celebration of Mission Event have been distributed to 10 WV Conference Mission Ministries. A total of $90,271.15 was distributed by the Conference Treasurer, providing $8,800 for each of the seven Conference Mission Projects, Volunteers in Mission and the New Vision Depot, plus $4,400 for the Clarksburg Parish Church and Community Ministry.
In addition, $5,696.65 was deposited in the Mission Projects’ Trust Fund, administered by the UM Foundation, providing an additional distribution to the conference missions once each year.
Of the 2023 cash donations, $29,137.86 were designated for specific missions and $61,133.29 were given as undesignated. Undesignated giving is encouraged, as it allows for an equal distribution to each mission ministry. In 2023, giving to the Celebration of Mission Event was about $15,000.00 less than the average year. Nevertheless, the Conference Mission Ministries received a generous gift from churches and individuals who faithfully support the Celebration of Mission Event from year to year – having completed its 26th year of support.
The 2024 Celebration of Mission Event is now gearing up in the districts for renewed support of Conference Mission Ministries. The 2024 Celebration of Mission Event Booklet, with instructions and report forms, will soon be placed online at Conference and District Websites.
Following below is the report of the 2023 Celebration of Mission Event cash donations. In addition, all districts provided tangible goods for their assigned projects, which normally total 1/3 to 1/2 the value of cash donations.
