Churches of all sizes and types throughout our conference want to find ways to make disciples of Jesus Christ. The more programs they try the more evident it becomes that there is no quick fix or secret formula to help them. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Movement, once said, “The way to keep a Methodist alive is to keep him moving.”

How about your church? Do you currently have a clear discipleship process that is bearing fruit?

If so, congratulations! We would love to hear from you and share your story with others as an example. If not, don’t worry. We are going to share some resources designed to help you on this journey.

Authors Rev. Mike Schreiner and Ken Willard humbly offer the resource, Stride: Creating a Discipleship Pathway for Your Church. Follow this link to order Stride from Cokesbury.

The book is designed to be used by a small group of church leaders to create a discipleship process specifically for their ministry. Ken is currently doing workshops around our conference with district groups on this topic.

Another resource to help you make disciples is the book, Stride: Creating a Discipleship Pathway for Your Life. This book is designed for Sunday school classes, small groups, Celebrate Recovery groups, men’s and woman’s ministries, and other Christian community ministries. Your church does not need to have a discipleship process in place for you to use this resource. Follow this link to order Stride!

Please see the other pages connected to this topic for additional resources:

Contact Ken Willard (kwillard@wvumc.org), Director of Discipleship, Leadership and Congregational Vitality if you or your church have questions about creating a discipleship process for your ministry.
