Spring Heights Offers Three Camping Options This Summer!

By WV UMC Admin

The staff at Spring Heights Camp and Retreat Center is excited to offer several options to children and families who want to camp! After consultation with the West Virginia Conference leadership and the American Camp Association, here are some safe ways that kids and families can enjoy camp this summer.

DaySpring is a mobile camp ministry that will be coming to each district through out the West Virginia Conference, set up at a church or ministry location. Kids will come together to explore the Bible, play Gaga Ball, sing silly songs, and try their hand at archery! DaySpring staff are fully vaccinated and will ensure COVID-19 protocols are followed for the safety of all the kids participating. Each camp will run 2-4 days, depending on the location.

Not only is this for kids who have been campers at Spring Heights before to have fun, it’s also a great way to introduce younger kids to camp who may be nervous about spending nights away from home!

If you want to visit the Spring Heights grounds in person, there are two options available for families. It is also flexible – stay for a day or two, or stay for a whole week!

Families can sign up for a Family Camp, where the Spring Heights staff will plan the schedule for you. Activities will include riding horses, walking the prayer labyrinth, the challenge course, the pool, and hiking. Families can stay either in the rustic cabins or in the air-conditioned lodges near the dining hall. Food will be provided by the kitchen staff.

The second option is a Family Retreat, where families plan their own stay. You can do as few or as many activities as you want, and the staff will set up times for you to do the activities you want. Plus you can either make your own food or enjoy the food prepared by the kitchen staff. This is a great option for families who want flexibility!

Spring Heights can host multiple families at once, with each family (from the same household) having separate lodging and meals. It is up to each family whether they feel comfortable interacting with other families with safe social distancing. Families are required to follow certain COVID-19 protocols. See how Spring Heights is keeping folks safe!
