Puerto Rico VIM Trip Deadline Approaching

By WVUMC News

We’re quickly approaching the Oct. 28 registration deadline for participants who wish to join our WV Conference Volunteers in Mission work team to Puerto Rico Feb. 4-14, 2020.

The Northeast Jurisdiction Volunteers in Mission office reports that 35,000 houses across Puerto Rico remain under blue tarps from Hurricane Maria’s damage in September, 2017. The call for volunteers is strong, and the need is great.

Tasks will likely include general rehab, roofing, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing work. Both skilled and non-skilled willing helpers are highly needed!

Cost estimate is $1,100 per person. The WV Board of Global Ministries and WVUMVIM are underwriting the air fare. Costs cover baggage fees, meals, water, lodging, ground transportation, translators, NEJVIM insurance, and a t-shirt. We will have seven full work days, one day with church activities, and one day for relaxing and some sight-seeing.

Contact Rev. Jack Lipphardt for more information and to express interest in participation.
