The United Methodist Foundation of West Virginia, Inc. awarded grants in August 2023 totaling $89,100 to several ministries across the Annual Conference. According to Foundation president, Jeff Taylor, The Foundation’s Grants Committee reviews applications and awards grants to help fund innovative programs that address acute needs in communities. The Foundation awarded grants for the following:

• Avery United Methodist Church in Morgantown to begin a food truck ministry to meals to community members in need.
• Calvary United Methodist Church in Keyser to purchase an Automated External Defibrillator.
• Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon for their Wednesday Night Community Dinner.
• Fairview Chapel United Methodist Church in Keyser to increase accessibility to their building.
• First United Methodist Church in Sistersville for backpack feeding program.
• Franklin United Methodist Church in Franklin to begin an after school program for children in their community.
• Friendly United Methodist Church in Friendly for their food pantry and necessities closet.
• Heart and Hand Outreach Ministries in Charleston to install emergency alert systems in their facility.
• Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in Buckhannon to increase accessibility to their building.
• Religious Coalition for Community Renewal (RCCR) in Charleston to create a health ministry for individuals experiencing homelessness.
• St. Andrew UMC in St. Albans for their community church project.
• Swanton-Otterbein United Methodist Church in Bloomington, Maryland to increase accessibility to their feeding ministry.
• Wayside United Methodist Church in Vienna to begin a program fostering safe online gaming interactions for community children.
• Wesley United Methodist Church in Morgantown to sponsor a family of Ukrainian Refugees.
• West Virginia’s Helping, Inc. for their “Boots for Babes” project, which provides name brand shoes to children in need.
• Westover United Methodist Church in Westover to begin a support group for those in their community who live with chronic pain and invisible illnesses.
• YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women and Families in Charleston for the purchase of sanitary kitchen supplies for the shelter.
