We welcome Rev. Rosemary Grattan to the West Virginia Conference as a Church and Community Worker serving as mentoring program coordinator at the House of the Carpenter in Wheeling, WV. Rosemary is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries. She was commissioned as a missionary in October, 2018.

Rosemary is from Austin, Texas and is an elder in the Rio Texas Annual Conference. She has served appointments as associate pastor at Covenant United Methodist Church, Austin (2011 to 2013), and Manchaca (2017 to 2018); and as senior pastor at First United Methodist Church, Sinton, Texas (2013 to 2017). She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University, Austin, and the Master of Divinity degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Rosemary says she was born and raised in The United Methodist Church—her father was a pastor: “I began ministry as a young adult teaching Sunday school to little ones. I began to take a greater interest in the Bible and studied in depth before entering the process for ordained ministry. As I studied, I began to show an interest in preaching and teaching and became a certified lay speaker.”

Her call to mission service involves a growing hunger to minister to people outside the church in a global sense. “I feel a call from God to go out literally into the world and preach the Good News of the coming reign of God, eternal life and salvation. I feel a call to go and proclaim this Good News in tangible ways that involve missions of mercy as well as education and community development. I feel called by God to minister to the least, the last and he lost; for example, the disenfranchised and those who may never step inside the church doors on a regular basis.”

Rosemary has two adult sons, Kenneth and Sean, who live in Austin, Texas, and also a mother, brother and sisters back in Texas.
