Academy of Faith and Generosity

By Allie Sears

We are only a month away from the United Methodist Foundation’s in-person Academy of Faith and Generosity. The Academy is taking place September 25-27 at Pipestem Resort State Park. The keynote presenter will be Rev. Dr. Lovett Weems, Emeritus Distinguished Professor of Church Leadership and Senior Consultant, G. Douglass Lewis Center for Church Leadership. Rev. Dr. Lovett Weems’ topic will be From Paying the Bills to Serving God’s Vision. Money is central to the teaching of Jesus and the spiritual life. Yet pastors are uncomfortable talking about it, and laity are happy not to hear about it. Money is also central to your church’s mission. Survival is not a worthy goal but sustaining the mission God has given your church is. Learn to lead with the best theological and practical skills your church so needs today.

Additional sessions will be led by Rev. Dr. Ken Sloane, Director, Stewardship & Generosity at Discipleship Ministries; Karen Manzcko, Director of Institutional Relationships at Wespath Institutional Investments; and United Methodist Foundation leadership, Rev. Jeff Taylor, President and Kim Matthews, Vice President. You can view a tentative agenda here and information on the presenters here.
