Preparations: Caring for our Gathering Spaces

It is important to prepare our worship and gathering spaces so that our community feels safe in what is likely an anxious time.
These simple practices will help guide your church.

  • Routinely clean all frequently touched surfaces such as offering plates, children’s grab bags, microphones, candle-lighters, workstations, countertops, and doorknobs. Use the cleaning agents that are usually used in these areas and follow the directions on the label. Bleach is recommended for disinfecting durable surfaces.

  • Children’s toys and other durable surfaces in classrooms or nurseries should be disinfected often. Put toys in the nursery with fur or fabric, such as stuffed animals, in time out for now. It’s ok for children to bring personal items from home if they give them comfort.

  • Consider providing hand sanitizer and tissues throughout the gathering spaces.
