Episcopal Secretary Transition

By WV UMC Admin

For 25 years, Lisa Shafer has faithfully served as executive secretary to the episcopal leaders of the West Virginia Conference.

In her tenure, Lisa assisted four episcopal leaders: Bishop Clifton Ives, Bishop William Boyd Grove, Bishop Ernest Lyght, and Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball.

Celebrating Lisa’s service, Bishop Steiner Ball shares, “I have appreciated Lisa’s support in the episcopal office for all of my 12 years with the West Virginia Conference.  She has compassionately listened to hundreds of persons as they have called into the office, weeded through thousands of emails, tracked correspondence, addressed many envelopes – since my handwriting would make delivery difficult – helped to keep my calendar straight, and helped to prepare documents for and transport them to Annual Conference sessions.  I am thankful for Lisa’s help, for her prayers, for her faithfulness, patience, smile, and for her willingness to share herself – her love and administrative skills – with the people of the West Virginia Conference.  I wish her well in the next season of her life and faith!”

Adding to Bishop Steiner Ball’s sentiments, Bonnie MacDonald shared, “Lisa has been a cherished member of our conference staff for many years, and we are deeply grateful for her unwavering faithfulness and support. Her dedication has benefited all of us, including our bishops, and countless others who have been touched by her service.”

With the end of the executive secretary position, we wish Lisa well in the future. Our prayers are with you, Lisa!
