One of our Conference goals for this year is to have ten churches become Lighthouse Congregations. (Please visit the course on Portico to learn more about our Conference goals.)
We are very excited to announce that on Sunday July 14, Lewisburg United Methodist Church became our FIRST Lighthouse Congregation!
Conference Superintendent Rick Swearengin was present to congratulate Pastor Beverly Colombo and the whole congregation for the work they have done to become a Lighthouse Congregation, and to pray a blessing on the next stage of their journey.
One sign that God’s Spirit is already at work in this process is that the church welcomed eight new members that day. Two of them were members of a church in the area that closed several months ago, and they came to Lewisburg UMC because they heard it was becoming a Lighthouse Congregation!
Please join us in celebrating Lewisburg UMC and praying for them and all of the churches in our Conference God is calling to become Lighthouse Congregations who will provide radical hospitality and accessibility to those in their area who do not have a church home and feel the Spirit nudging them to connect.
