The first distribution of 2024 Celebration of Mission Event (come) cash funds to the ten WV Conference Mission Ministries supported by the Celebration of Mission Event has been completed. The distribution includes all cash donated during the first six months of 2024. Each of the seven Conference Mission Projects, Volunteers in Mission and the New Vision Depot received $6,150.00 for their ministries. The Clarksburg Church and Community Ministry received $3,237.10. $3,494.82 was deposited in the Conference Mission Projects’ Trust Fund, administered by the United Methodist Foundation, for a total distribution of $62,081.92. The mission ministries receive a distribution from the Trust Fund each year ($1,350.00 each for 2024).
56% of the donated the Celebration of Mission Event funds were given as undesignated, and 44% were designated for a particular mission ministry. Churches are encouraged to remit their donation to the Conference Treasurer as undesignated, so an equal distribution can be made to all supported projects.
The next major emphasis for the Celebration of Mission Event will be NATIONAL COFFEE DAY on or near September 29. Churches will request their members to donate the cost of one cup of coffee to support the Celebration of Mission Event. The church will then submit the funds as specified here.
