The month of October was Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month. One in every 4 women has lost a baby during pregnancy, delivery, or in infancy. Christ Church (Charleston) would like to take a moment to honor those who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or during early infancy.
Christ Church is spreading its love to women and families who have dealt with the loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, and early infant death. One in four mothers experiences this loss. Our outreach mission is called “In Loving Remembrance Initiative”. The purpose is to create awareness and give encouragement to women and families at this heartbreaking time.
We are making “Blessing Boxes” to show our love and support. Each box includes a small blanket and matching prayer square, handmade by members of the church, a small teddy bear, and a devotional book entitled “Loved Baby”. Two of these boxes have already been delivered to families that have just experienced the loss of a baby. On Monday, ten boxes will be taken to Women’s and Children’s Hospital along with handprint kits so that parents can have a small impression of their child’s hand. These blessing boxes will be available through the church if someone you know experiencing loss.
Thank you to the Yarnettes, Janet Simpson, Susan Johnson, Pat Brannin, Jan Stanley, and Donna Bailey who have taken their time to help create these boxes. Also, we want to thank the Initiative team members: Melissa Greene, Susan Johnson, Evelyn Klocke, Blake Westfall, and Pat Zirkle. Special thanks to Ronda King who helps with everything.
