The Last Words of Christ

Each morning Bishop Sandra invites you to join her for prayer and reflection as she explores Jesus' Last Words.

As part of this devotion practice, Bishop Sandra has gathered 7 candles in a circle. As the days go by, the candles are extinguished one by one until all is shrouded on Holy Saturday. 

On Easter Sunday morning the shroud is lifted and we are able to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. But first, we journey with him along the way to the cross.

"Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."

"Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise."

"Woman, behold your son.'  
Then he said to his disciple, 'behold your mother."

"My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me?"

"I am thirsty."

"It is finished."

"Father, into your hands I commend my Spirit."
