The Midland South District will offer four lay academy classes by Zoom on Monday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM starting April 12 , 2021 and ending May 10, 2021. Contact Jennifer Goldizen in the Midland South District Office , jgoldizen@wvumc.org, for registration information.

The following classes will be offered.
(1)Introduction to Lay Ministry – The Basic Course. This course is an overview of the basic principles of the United Methodist faith and the role of laity in the United Methodist Church . This class is the entry level class for the lay servant program. This class will be taught by Cheryl Davis, Certified Lay Minister.
(2)Leading Worship – This class is designed for lay people who regularly or occasionally lead a group or congregation in worship. This class will be taught by Laura Dyer, Certified Lay Servant.
(3) Living Our United Methodist Beliefs (United Methodist Heritage) – This class is a more in-depth study of United Methodist beliefs and theology. This class will be taught by Phil Cook, Certified Lay Servant.
(4) Life Together in the United Methodist Connection (United Methodist Polity) – This class focuses on the structure and organization of the United Methodist Church. This class will be taught by Heather Fulton, Certified Lay Servant.
