“Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” – International Coach Federation (ICF)
The West Virginia Conference is embarking on a journey to create a culture of coaching throughout all aspects of our ministry. We are doing so because this will equip our leaders to better “Discover, Develop, and Deploy passionate spiritual leaders who make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” (Our Mission)
The first phase of this journey is to train leaders, both clergy and laity, in the basic skills of coaching. We feel that coaching skills are needed for leaders of all types today. This phase is not as much focused on having people become coaches as just giving them tools for their leadership toolbox.
One way we will be doing this is through Basic Coach Training sessions around our conference. The first two are scheduled in the fall of 2019. You can find out more HERE or click HERE to download a copy of the flyer.
The second phase of this journey is for us to train and equip clergy and laity leaders throughout our conference to provide one-on-one coaching and group coaching. Our goal is to be able to support all aspects of the Congregational Vitality Initiative with trained coaches.
We are partnering with Coaching4Clergy on this component of our initiative. Their training is accredited by the International Coach Federation.
If you are a pastor looking for a coach now here are a couple of options:
- Visit the Coaching4Clergy website and complete the form to work with one of their coaches.
- Contact Ken Willard and I will work with you to find a certified coach right for you.
Please contact Ken if you have any questions or want to know more about coaching.
