Serve at Spring Heights – Louisa’s Testimony!

By Shea James

Making disciples, growing leaders, changing the world- one camper at a time.

Part of what I love about camp ministry is that its impact is far-reaching. Campers are changed when they encounter Christ at camp, and summer staff and volunteers grow as leaders when they are allowed to serve. We could tell you why you should work at camp, but our past staff does a far better job!

My name is Louisa Smith, and I have worked at Spring Heights since the summer of 2018.  Yes, I worked through both pandemic years, including the shutdown.  While working at camp has proven to challenge me, it has helped build my character and establish who I am. It brought me closer to God and closer to others.

I’ve learned many skills while working at a church camp.  I’ve helped campers grow more in love with Jesus. I learned about working and training horses how to take care of all sorts of animals, and we even had gardening projects going on where I learned how to have a green thumb!

Working at Spring Heights has been the greatest thing ever to happen.  Unfortunately, I will not return this summer as I am working on my master’s degree. Still, I’m hoping that means that there is a new spot open for a fantastic person to take who wants to learn more about God and help spread his love and word to the children of today.
