2021 Celebration of Mission Report

Even though 2021 was a tough year for churches and they had to find new and creative ways to worship, serve and give, churches and individuals nevertheless found ways to support our WV Conference Mission Ministries so the vital work they do could continue. Giving to the Celebration of Mission Event (COME) in 2021 totaled $101,721.50, a somewhat phenomenal figure, considering the circumstances, and an increase of nearly $25,000.00 over 2020. Much of the increase can be credited to the promotion and involvement of the Cabinet, who raised $60,000.00 by promoting and staging a “Hot Wheels” car race competition. A unique feature of the Celebration of Mission Event is that every penny received is distributed for the support of mission ministries; nothing has been used for expenses for the past several years.

2021 proceeds enabled each of our seven Conference Mission Projects, Volunteers in Mission, and the New Vision Depot to be given $9,775.00 for their ministries, with ½ that amount given to our one Church and Community Ministry at Clarksburg. Thank you to all who gave!

2022 Celebration of Mission Promotion – 25th Anniversary

2022 marks the 25th year that the churches of the West Virginia Conference have participated in Celebration of Mission Events with their cash gifts and tangible goods. To inform and promote the events, the revised Celebration of Mission Booklet is now available in this edition of the Short Circuit and on the Conference Website. The booklet designates district assignments for projects’ support, a description of the ministries of each project, a “needs list” for each ministry, contact information, instructions for collecting tangible gifts and suggestions for ways to support our mission ministries through the Celebration of Mission Event. The booklet also contains a remittance form for sending cash gifts to the Conference Treasurer. The booklet can be downloaded and printed in its entirety or page-by-page.

Our Conference Mission Ministries are dependent upon the cash funds and tangible goods received from the Celebration of Mission Event, and readily express their gratitude for the support given them. By their generous response over the past 25 years, and more recently during a pandemic, the churches and individual members of the WV Conference have demonstrated their confidence in the work of our mission ministries and continue to generously support them. This year, the Celebration of Mission Event will be promoting a “$25 for 25” theme, encouraging all persons who are able to give $25 for the support of the ten mission ministries during 2022. This would be $2.50 per mission.

On behalf of the Conference Mission Ministries, thank you for your continued prayers, gifts and involvement in these vital ministries.
