FINAL CALL FOR 2020 CELEBRATION OF MISSION EVENT FUNDS

By WV UMC Admin

We give thanks for the ways that God has blessed us so that we may be a blessing to others! The Celebration of Mission coordinator would like to share the following report with our West Virginia Conference family and friends.

TOTAL OF 2020 COME CASH RECEIPTS THROUGH OCTOBER 10:

            Undesignated Cash Receipts —————–$58,322.95

            Designated Cash Receipts ——————–$  7,273.00

                        Total Cash Receipts ——————-$65,595.95

Distributions to Mission Ministries —-  —$49,480.74

Final distribution of Undesignated Funds will be made on December 31, 2020.

Designated Funds are sent to the mission ministries as they are remitted to the Conference Treasurer.

SHORTFALL OF COME FUNDS TO DATE IN 2020:

Compared to previous years we have received approximately $40,000.00 less for the Conference Ministries this year by way of COME.  It is not difficult to trace the reasons why, since COVID-19 prevented us from holding any District Celebration of Mission Events or in-person District Conferences, and local churches had to cancel many in-person services.

HOW TO DONATE CASH:

Attached to this report is a Remittance Form that can be used by local church and/or individuals to send cash directly to the Conference Treasurer.  The funds can be either undesignated or designated for a particular ministry.  Cash funds may also be remitted through the various District Offices.  All COME Funds should be sent to the Conference Treasurer so we can have an accurate and equal distribution to each Conference Mission Ministry.

HOW TO DONATE TANGIBLE GOODS:

Tangible goods can still be collected and transported to the various mission ministries.  Some districts have had good success by setting a date and location for such goods to be brought to a central location and arranging for a representative from the mission ministry you are supporting to pick up the goods.  It is not too late to still do this.

THANK YOU.  YOU HAVE REALLY RESPONDED WELL:

Even though we are presently well short of our normal giving, it is rather amazing that more than $65,000.00 has been raised for COME this year under very trying circumstances.  What has been done is by the initiative of local churches and individuals, and the leadership within the districts.  THANKS!  YOU ARE APPRECIATED!
