Caitlin Ware to assume the position of Spiritual Life Coordinator For West Virginia Wesleyan

Buckhannon, WV—The Resident Bishop of the West Virginia Conference of The United Methodist Church, Sandra Steiner Ball, and West Virginia Wesleyan College President, Joel Thierstein, are pleased to announce that West Virginia Wesleyan graduate, Caitlin Ware, will serve as West Virginia Wesleyan College’s United Methodist Church Liaison and Spiritual Life Coordinator effective July 1. Caitlin, who is a candidate for ministry and 2020 graduate of the College, will serve for a year prior to entering seminary to help the College review and strengthen the Coordinator or Chaplain’s position.

As a 2020 graduate and an active participant in the spiritual life on campus, Ms. Ware is uniquely positioned to reflect on her experience with the College in order to help paint a future vision and plan for the Office of Spiritual Life and its Coordinator. She is excited about working with College and West Virginia Conference leadership to positively impact the pathway of campus spiritual life, planning, and leadership for present and future students, faculty, staff, and administration.

Ms. Ware’s assignment to this position is a result of the ongoing conversations between President Thierstein and Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball about the spiritual and religious needs as well as the opportunities for a more rounded student experience of Wesleyan’s campus and education as a community that tends to the growth and nurture of body, mind, and spirit.  As Ms. Ware assumes this year of exploring and helping build a foundation and vision for the future of religious and spiritual life, the College and the leadership of the West Virginia Annual Conference look forward to a continued and strengthened partnership.

“During my time at Wesleyan, Caitlin has been a stalwart member of the spiritual life community on our campus,” Thierstein said.  “She has shown tremendous leadership abilities, and we are delighted that she has chosen to continue to share her spiritual gifts with the campus.”

Caitlin Ware is a member of Bailey Memorial United Methodist Church on the Flemington Charge, and was a summer 2019 DiscoverU intern with the West Virginia Conference. We congratulate Caitlin on her recent graduation and look forward to her ministry with West Virginia Wesleyan in this year of visioning and growing in new directions for new times.
