Warming Stations Listed

The West Virginia Council of Churches has released the following list of Warming Stations available during cold weather throughout West Virginia (updated 1/31/19)

Kanawha County

  • City of Nitro
    • Methodist Church, 2nd Avenue & 20th Street – Opens at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening until further notice
  • City of St. Albans
    • Hansford Center – Tuesday from 9pm-8am and Wednesday from 6pm to 8am
  • Town of Belle
    • Call 304.357.0191 if you need to access a warming center in the Belle Area
      City of South Charleston

      • South Charleston Community Center – Tuesday & Wednesday 9pm – 7am
    • City of Charleston
      • Roosevelt Neighborhood Center-Tuesday & Wednesday 9am-5pm
      • Salvation Army on Tennessee Avenue – Tuesday & Wednesday 9pm-7am
      • KRT Transit mall will have a warming bus during the day on Wednesday

Fairmont Area

  • The Soup Opera (425 Quincy Street, Fairmont, WV) is providing emergency shelter on Thursday and Friday.
  • First United Methodist Church (117 N 2nd St, Clarksburg, WV) will also be providing emergency shelter until either the 1stor 2nd of February.

Huntington Area

  • Huntington City Mission (624 10th St. Huntington) – when the weather reaches below 40degrees (a white flag is flown). They are open and welcome anyone who may need a place to escape weather as well as lodging.
  • Harmony House (627 4th Ave Huntington) – Opening at 6 AM any morning it is below 30 degrees.

Nicholas County

  • Nicholas County is at the Wilderness Fire Department at Mt. Lookout

Wood County

  • The Salvation Army will be letting individuals come in at any time to get warm, even if they choose not to spend the night. They are located at 570 5th St Parkersburg, WV 26101.
  • Latrobe Street Missions will also be allowing individuals come in to get warm. They are located at 1725 Latrobe St. Parkersburg, WV 26101.
  • Parkersburg Area Coalition for the Homeless (House to Home) will be allowing individuals to come in Monday-Friday 8am-4pm while it is cold.
  • Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department will be opening their doors as a warming station 8am Wednesday through 8am Thursday. If you, a loved one, neighbor or friend have inadequate heat or shelter you are more than welcome to come shelter with us. For more information call Jim at 304-614-2698 or Angie at 304-488-5482.

 Logan County

  • The Logan County Office of Emergency Management has worked with local community volunteer organizations throughout Logan County to have warming centers available upon request. These centers will only be on standby at this time and can be opened if needed. Any requests for the warming centers can be made by calling the Logan County Office of Emergency Management at 304-752-0917 during business hours or by calling the Logan County EOC after 4:30 at 304-752-7662.
  • Bruce McDonald Memorial United Methodist Church (104 E McDonald Ave, Man, WV 25635)- open for the next 48 hours. Contact Terry Stone or Gilman and they will turn up the heat and make some warm coffee/tea/hot chocolate. They do not have bedding but they have a place.

Berkeley County

  • People can go to Immanuel’s House at 713 Buxton Street, Martinsburg WV 25401 on these days: Mondays 1 pm to 4 pm., Wednesdays 9 am to 1 pm and Friday 9am to 1 pm.
