Bishop to meet with Laity in the New Year

By WVUMC News

Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball invites the laity of The West Virginia Conference to one of five gatherings to acknowledge the anxious times we are in as The United Methodist Church prepares for the Special General Conference in February 2019.

She will meet with laity at five different sessions across the conference.

January 6, 2019 3pm Forrest Burdette UMC  (Western and Midland South Districts)

January 12, 2019 10am New Martinsville UMC (Little Kanawha and Northern Districts)

January 12, 2019 3pm Quiet Dell UMC  (MonValley and Wesleyan Districts)

January 31, 2019 6pm Trinity UMC, Ft Ashby  (Potomac Highlands District)

February 9, 2019 10am United Methodist Temple: Beckley (Southern and Greenbrier Districts)

The tentative agenda will include: Devotional time, bringing us up to date on the conversation about The Way Forward, sharing how this General Conference will do its work together and interpreting the Judicial Council decisions and how they impact the work of the General Conference.

This important meeting will also attempt to address misinformation and frequently asked questions. This time together will be an opportunity for the laity of our Conference to hear directly from the Bishop on the current work being done as The United Methodist Church navigates a way forward that would honor our Lord and help us fulfill our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
