By WVUMC News

Director of Discipleship, Leadership and Congregational Vitality Ken Willard and Conference Lay Leader Rich Shaffer are very excited to introduce Kim Matthews as our conference’s new Director of Lay Servant Ministries.

Kim serves as the Vice President of the United Methodist Foundation of West Virginia, Inc. In her role at the Foundation, she travels across the conference, visiting with churches and donors to help facilitate their ministries of stewardship and generosity. She is a Certified Lay Minister whose ministry is connected both to the Foundation and her home church, Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Huntington.

Lay Servant Ministries is vital to helping individuals in all our congregations discern and live into their calling from God. The Certified Lay Servant course is foundational for all levels of leaders and is highly recommended for everyone serving at any level in a local church. Lay Servant Ministries is also responsible for equipping Certified Lay Speakers and Certified Lay Ministers. Click here to find out more.

Kim joins our conference lay leadership team which includes: Les Fish, Chair of the Congregational Development team; Ed Corbitt, Chair of the Evangelism team; Kristi Wilkerson, Associate Conference Lay Leader; and Shaffer. The team extends its gratitude to Fred Kellerman, who served as Director of Lay Servant Ministries for the past six years.

Please join us in congratulating Kim on her new role and praying for her and the whole lay leadership team as we move toward God’s vision for our conference.
