We need you again! Protect health care for our most vulnerable.

By WV UMC Admin

Once again, the Senate is debating legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act and restructure the basic guarantee of health care provided by Medicaid for people with disabilities, people living in poverty and senior citizens. The Senate is rushing to consider legislation developed by Senators Cassidy and Graham before September 30th when the fast-track reconciliation process expires.

Your voice helped to defeat previous efforts and your voice is needed again now.
Please contact our senators today and urge them to reject this proposal and pursue reform efforts focused on ensuring access to high-quality affordable health care for all.

As with previous proposals put forward this year, the Graham-Cassidy bill does not meet the call of the United Methodist Social Principles and Resolutions to increase access to affordable quality care.

Specifically, this legislation would repeal the guarantee of care provided by Medicaid for millions of our neighbors, allow states to waive protections for preexisting conditions, and cut billions of dollars available to expand access to affordable, high-quality care.

Contact our Senators today!  You may reach our two Senators at their Washington Office:  202.224.3121.  Follow the prompts and then, when someone answers, you can say:

“Hi, my name is [name] and I live in [city, state].  As a constituent, I am asking the Senator to oppose legislation that reduces access to health care.  I am a United Methodist and my faith tradition leads me to advocate for increased access to affordable, high-quality health care for all.  Any changes to the current law must have this goal in mind. Please share this message with the Senator. Thank you.”

And remember that you have two Senators, so please make two calls.
