Mission Statement
The
House of the Carpenter, Inc. located in Wheeling, serves a Tri-state region
from West Virginia’s northern panhandle. The agency’s mission is
two-fold. First, it provides emergency services for people who are hungry,
poor, disadvantaged, oppressed, hurt, abused, exploited or disabled.
Secondly, it develops long-range programs to address root causes of poverty,
as well as to meet needs regarding health, education, and protection of
human rights.

bringing souls to Christ.”
McDowell Mission, Inc.
began in 1991 as a mission of the WV Annual Conference of The United
Methodist Church. Its goal at that time was to minister to the needs of the
Southern WV Coalfields through home repair.
Over the years this ministry has expanded to enrich the lives of the
residents of McDowell, Wyoming, Mingo, Logan, and Mercer Counties
physically, socially, educationally, and spiritually through children,
youth, and adult ministries with the following programs:

The Parish House is a community mission working with our local churches,
civic organizations, community agencies and West Virginia Wesleyan College.
The Upshur Cooperative Parish with ministries
centralized in the Pariah House located in the Wesleyan District across
from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon serves more than 5,000
neighbors in need.
