The West Virginia Conference of The United Methodist Church Can Share in Ministry with Africa through one or more of the following ways:

 

 


1.                  Educate your congregation about Africa University.  www.africau.edu

 

2.         Encourage financial support for Africa University.  (Send monies to Conference Treasurer, marked “Africa University”) 

 

3.         Provide scholarship support for students of Africa University.  One way to do this is through a gift to The Advance for Christ and His Church #14382A, Africa University Students, Monthly Stipend.

 

4.         Participate in a Volunteer In Mission Team to Africa University.

 

5.         View The Advance for Christ and His Church resources and DVD that were sent to every local church.  This material includes several advance projects that a church or individual can support.

 

6.         Support The Advance for Christ and His Church through a financial gift.  Information can be found at http://secure.gbgm-umc.org/donations/advance and Mary Baker, Conference Secretary of Global Ministries, 111 Highland Dr, St. Albans, WV 25177. 

 

7.         Develop a Covenant Relationship with a missionary serving in Africa.  The conference has supported:  Larry and Jane Kies, Zimbabwe; Emmanuel and Florence Mefor, Mutambara; and Karen Johnson Ujereh, Dakar, Senegal.  Additional missionaries serving in Africa can be found at

8.         Prepare mission moments from the West Virginia United  Methodist conference website www.wvumc.org and/or the General Board of Global Ministries web site  http://new.gbgm-umc.org.

 

9.         Host a missionary or international student.

11.       Support the Landmine Removal Program through financial support of UMCOR, Advance #982575.

 

12.       Participate in the “Nothing But Nets” campaign.  Cash gifts can be directed to Advance #902015, Nothing But Nets.

 

13.       Support the UMCOR Advance # 982345, United Methodist Global AIDS Fund. This fund represents the commitment of every United Methodist to put a stop to HIV/AIDS in our world.  It supports education, prevention, care, and treatment programs for people living with HIV/AIDS. The United Methodist Global AIDS Fund does not overlook the crisis in the US. About one million people are infected in the US and more are added to that number each day.  The plan specifies that 25 percent of what each annual conference raises should be used in that conference for AIDS work, either locally or in global projects.
